The National Gallery of Zimbabwe’s Mutare Branch, often referred to as the Mutare Art Gallery, was officially opened in December 1999. This branch was established to decentralize the activities of the National Gallery and to promote art and culture in the eastern region of Zimbabwe. Located in Mutare, the gallery serves as an important cultural hub, showcasing a wide range of visual arts including paintings, sculptures, and installations by local and regional artists. It also hosts various art-related events, workshops, and educational programs aimed at fostering artistic talent and appreciation within the community. The establishment of the Mutare Branch underscores the National Gallery of Zimbabwe’s commitment to making art accessible to a broader audience across the country.
