“Green Shoots” – National Gallery School of Visual Arts and Design Students Exhibition
“Green Shoots” brings together the work of eighteen Fine Arts students from the National Gallery School of Visual Arts and Design, presented in partial fulfilment of the National Gallery Certificate of Achievement. This exhibition represents both a culmination of their academic journey and the beginning of their professional artistic paths — an affirmation of the rigorous training they have undertaken and a celebration of the creative identities now emerging into the wider art world.
Each work on display reflects a unique exploration of material, concept, and form. Collectively, the pieces speak to shared experiences of growth, experimentation, and artistic development. Spanning painting, sculpture, mixed media, and photography, the exhibition highlights the diversity of contemporary artistic practice. The works demonstrate how art can be deeply personal while also engaging with broader cultural and social conversations.
At the National Gallery, we recognize this exhibition not only as an academic milestone but also as an important platform for emerging voices in visual arts. It stands as a testament to the resilience, imagination, and commitment of these young artists, who have embraced the challenge of transforming ideas into powerful visual language. Their work invites audiences to reflect, question, and find inspiration in new perspectives.
The National Gallery School of Visual Arts and Design remains committed to nurturing talent and fostering innovation. This exhibition clearly illustrates the school’s role in shaping the future of Zimbabwean art and creative expression. We invite audiences to engage with these works as both a reflection of the present moment and a promise of what is yet to come.
