The National Gallery of Zimbabwe is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Sabina Mutsvati Ndishonongoreiwo. Ndishonongoreiwo loosely translates to “What am I to you?”—a powerful question posed during a significant ritual in which a young wife is first introduced to her in-laws after the Lobola ceremony. This ritual is a personal and cultural milestone that marks the intersection of individual identity and familial expectations, beginning a life-long negotiation between belonging and autonomy. Sabina Mutsvati’s exhibition invites viewers to enter this intimate and public space, where questions of identity, belonging, and cultural memory are posed and explored.
