The National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, mature, honest and hardworking persons for appointment to the above position which has arisen in the organization. The applicant will be based at the Harare gallery.
General cleaning of the Gallery offices and yard; Assisting the Workshop Supervisor and Exhibitions department in mounting and dismounting of exhibitions; Assisting the Workshop Supervisor in layout for the maintenance, alteration and repair of sculpture stands and freight boxes and components; Perform carpentry, tasks, such as framing, roofing, partitioning and siding; Assist with painting, plumbing and welding tasks; Assist in requisition of materials for the workshop and liaise with Procurement for proper physical specifications and measurements; Assisting in use of scaffolding and ensure that proper safety measures are being observed; Assisting in keeping records and compilation of reports of work performed in the workshop; Perform any other related work as required.
The ideal candidate must be a reliable and hardworking individual with a strong attention to detail. They must be able to work independently and as part of a team, and they must be able to follow instructions. They should also be able to lift and move heavy objects, and they should be able to work in a variety of environments, including indoors and outdoors.
Education
NC Carpentry, joinery, painting, welding, building will be an added advantage, 5 ‘O’ Levels including English Language; any relevant field, garden landscaping.

The National Gallery of Zimbabwe (NGZ) is inviting applications from suitably qualified, mature, honest persons with excellent communication skills for appointment to the above position which has arisen in the organization. The applicant will be based at the Bulawayo gallery.
The following are the key duties and responsibilities; be the first face of the Gallery to the visiting public; greet visitors as they arrive at the gallery and verify their tickets and passes; Be able to stand and remain alert while visitors are in the galleries; Provide visitors with information about the art work and exhibits that the gallery is displaying; Provide guidance to visitors regarding the location of their exhibits of interest or provide them with directions; Educate visitors about artists behind each exhibit of interest and answer any questions asked of them; work with administrative staff members on a variety of activities such as memberships, filing, record keeping and registration for special information classes; Ascertain that all exhibits are properly displayed and maintained according to the instructions provided by Curators and Exhibitions Department; monitor exhibition areas through surveillance videos and ensure that any causes for concern are immediately communicated to the management or security personnel; patrol all publicly accessible areas, record findings and maintain a log of events and messages pertaining to visitors and staff activity; perform extended measures to safeguard art and exhibits against theft, vandalism and damage by enforcing established rules and protocols; maintaining cleanliness of lobby and other public areas as required (sweeping, keeping front desk organized, replenishing exhibition brochures and invite cards, etc.)
The person must possess: 5 ‘O’ Levels including English Language; Certificate/Diploma in Customer Care or Tour Guide Course; excellent communication skills; being multilingual is an added advantage.
